The water-repellent properties are measured by the IP rating. Any smartphone is given an ingress protection rating when it receives the capability against two ingresses, solid and liquid respectively. This rating consists of two digits; the first digit is for solid ingress, which is dust or sand particles, while the second digit is for liquid ingress, which is water. The value of solid ingress ranges between 0-6, and the value of liquid ingress ranges between 0-8.

The higher the IP rating of the device, the higher the protection. In Infinix Note 40 Pro and 40 Pro+, Infinix has offered an IP53 rating. This means that both smartphones are not completely waterproof.

The first digit in the IP53 rating for Infinix Note 40 Pro and 40 Pro+ is 5, which means that the device is not fully capable of handling dust. Also, the second digit is 3, which indicates that the device is not fully capable of water ingress. Thus, both the devices are only splashproof, not waterproof.
