iOS 17.3 Beta
This new feature released by Apple is introducing a new step related to security. This feature proves useful when someone has stolen your iPhone and obtained the passcode.
Before this feature, a thief would spy on the iPhone Passport before stealing the device. With which the Apple ID password can be reset. With this, Find My was turned off, and the bank could see the passcode of the related email accounts. This new feature has been introduced by Apple only to solve all these problems.
Stolen Device Protection Feature
This feature released by Apple also includes changing the password of the Apple ID account linked to the iPhone. This feature adds security on top of biometric training. In these cases, the user has to authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID followed by a wait of 1 hour. To avoid waiting for an iPhone, perform this task in familiar places like home workplace, etc. so that the problem of waiting will not arise.
This new feature released by Apple is available for those iPhone users who are users of iOS 17.3. After downloading this update, it will prompt an option to train the feature preview. Apple has informed us that this screen will not be offered to those users who will later receive the stable update of iOS 17.3.
Actions that will require Face ID or Touch ID authentication when the feature is turned on:
- View/use passwords or passkeys saved in iCloud Keychain
- Applying for a New Apple Card
- Viewing Apple Card Virtual Card
- Lost Mode is being turned off
- All content and settings are being erased
- Performing some Apple Cash and savings activities in the Wallet
