Google Assistant Update: Say Goodbye to 17 Features

Google keeps releasing updates by introducing changes in features to improve the experience of its users. Google is removing some features from its Assistant feature. These features of Google include about 17 features, and most of these features will stop working on February 26.

The features being discontinued by Google will affect mobile phones, smartwatches, and smart speakers/displays. It is hoped that after removing all these features, Google will introduce some new features which can compensate for their shortcomings.

Here is the complete list of features that Google is removing:

  • Playing and controlling audiobooks on Google Play Books with your voice This feature will be removed soon.
  • Set or use a media alarm, music alarm, or radio alarm on the device with the Google Assistant.
  • Accessing or managing your cookbooks, transferring recipes from one device to another.
  • Managing stopwatches on smart displays and speakers.
  • Using your voice to call a device or broadcast a message to a family group.
  • Use your voice to send email, video and audio messages.
  • Rescheduling an event in Google Calendar with your voice.
  • Using the app launcher in Google Assistant driving mode on Google Maps to read, send messages, and control calls and media.
  • Use your voice to schedule or listen to Family Bell announcements.
  • Ask to meditate peacefully.
  • Voice control will not be available for activities.
  • View your sleep summary
  • Unless you’re using Duo, calls made from speakers and smart displays won’t show up with Caller ID.
  • Viewing ambient “commute to work” time estimates on smart displays.
  • Checking personal itinerary by voice.
  • Asking for information about your contacts.
  • Ask your voice to take some action, like sending a payment, making a reservation, or posting on social media.
