The Gemini app can now be downloaded on Android and Pixel tablets
It was announced on August 16, 2024, that Android tablet users can now download the Gemini app from the Google Play Store.
Users who sideload the home screen shortcut after installing the Gemini app can proceed through a tablet-specific set-up process. The internal UI of the Gemini app is similar to the UI found on the Pixel Fold screen, with no optimizations made specifically for the wider screen.
On the other hand, Google Assistant on Pixel tablets is still active in Hub mode, because when you say “Hey Google” while the tablet is on its charging speaker dock, you get the Google Assistant experience and not the Gemini app.
This smart home command is till the time Gemini gets home control through extensions and lock screen access. Along with this, Google has announced that the Gemini app is coming with a “circle to search” feature for Pixel tablets.
