Airtel and Jio Likely to Start Charging for Unlimited 5G Data Offers

The 5G facility in India will start in October 2022. There are two major service-providing brands in the country, one of which is Jio and the other is Airtel. Both these brands have made 5G facilities available to their users. It provides unlimited data to its 5G users.

They have more than 125 million 5G customers. Companies are also including unlimited 5G data with select plans. However, companies may soon stop their unlimited 5G offering. Companies can increase 5G plan charges compared to 4G plans.

According to analysts, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel will soon stop their unlimited 5G data plans for customers. With this, soon 5 to 10 percent more charges will have to be paid for 5G services as compared to 4G.

According to the report, Jio and Airtel have been providing 5G connectivity at 4G rates with unlimited data plans to existing customers for almost a year. Analysts predict this will soon be changed. Jio and Airtel are set to launch 5G services across the country. It is estimated that the number of 5G users in India will exceed 200 million by the end of 2024.

According to the report, both the telecom companies will increase mobile charges by at least 20 percent by September 2024. Due to this 5G plans of Airtel and Jio will be 5-10 percent more expensive than 4G. Companies can include 30-40 percent more data in these bundles to boost usage. With this, companies will also improve their market share. Along with this, Vodafone Idea (Vi) will also soon start 5G services in the country.
